Hello, friends! I hope you are all staying safe and healthy as our world confronts the spread of the coronavirus. This is a strange and stressful time, so I want to share with you a few things that have helped me.
First, as you know, I love to create greeting cards. I am applying my stress-cleaning impulse to using up the scraps on my desk. I’ve made one-of-a kind cards, limited-edition cards, new cards, and even new versions of my favorite cards. But somehow there is now a new pile of scraps. Hmm…
I am trying to stay informed but not overload on negative news. I am inspired by the heroism of our healthcare workers! They are working hard and facing great risk at their everyday jobs. I also know that all “essential workers” are facing unusual challenges and many people are struggling to adapt to new daily routines at home. To acknowledge them, I created some special thank you notes intended for our healthcare workers, more general thank you notes, and some cheerful note cards to add to my new online store.
The online store is a work in progress! In these times of closures, the spring craft/vendor shows have been cancelled, so this has become a time for me to focus on other aspects of my business. Thankfully, my husband is a web wizard! In the meantime, if you have greeting card needs, please contact me. I can mail orders directly from my home to yours.
As for being at home, my husband and I have consciously changed our mindset from “stay at home” to “SAFE AT HOME”. This reminds us that even though we are not going places or doing social things or seeing our family and friends in person, we are protecting ourselves and others from the spread of this virus. But we miss our family and friends. And I’m sure you do, too.
As I was thinking about this, I realized that while we are safe at home, it is more important than ever for us to STAY IN TOUCH. We may need to practice “social distancing”, but we DO NOT have be “socially disconnected”. I know lots of us are making more phone calls and sending text messages and using social media and even trying video calls. These are wonderful resources. But don’t you love it when something in your mailbox isn’t junk mail or a bill? These days, getting a good old-fashioned card or letter is a treat.
So, I decided to try something new… FREE PRINTABLES! I created printable cards and letters with the message “5 things I miss about you.” Some have hearts, some have stars. All can be printed on standard 8 ½ by 11 paper. The black & white versions are great for kids and the young-at heart to draw and color. But if that’s not your thing, please enjoy the color versions… I had a lot of fun creating them.
Thanks for reading this. Obviously, I also like writing. STAY IN TOUCH!
Sara
